Hi Fion, DDOS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack) is a serious issue. We are not an expert to this matter but out of goodwill basis, we will try our best to assist you.

Firstly DDOS does affect SEO. The objective of DDOS is to make your website regularly offline. When it’s offline, not only your customers cannot visit, but Google spiders cannot crawl. Thus there will be a lot of errors in your Google webmaster. Google may de-index your website as they are unsure if your website is still available.

Since the server is mitigating the issue, is the issue solved? If it’s done, you should see your ranking back in a few days (maybe 1-2 week) time. You should also see the error in your Google webmaster reducing. (Example: 40 page not found errors, to 16 page not found and eventually to 0 as your website is now online).

If the DDOS is very big, some server really cannot hold the attack. They will eventually block all overseas IP to prevent the attack. From this, your website will be live (if you surf using Singapore IP) BUT Google spiders can’t crawl your website because they are base in US. If this happen, our advise if to put a DDOS firewall in front of your website. We recommend cloudflare (https://www.cloudflare.com/plans) as they are expert in fighting DDOS. We recommend the Business Plan but it can be quite costly. Else you can try the pro plan.

Hope its useful

I’m have been monitoring my website for the past few days. It was on page 16 than missing, page 14 than missing again. I therefore suspect also maybe the DDOS attack too. Apparently they mentioned that most website has been migrated. But i still cant see it on google page today. Do i still need to resubmit my website to google to recrawl again? Or should i wait for a few more day. Anyway i still update my website everyday.

BTW, any student seeing this, it is advisable to always check ur website ranking. Ur website should not out of sudden disappear from google search page. Need to quickly raise red flag to host server if u find abnormality.
PS i host my website with VODIEN.

Hi Fion, please wait for a few days. It can take up to 1-2 weeks. Most importantly, please update your website and also share on social media.

And thank you for sharing this with our students. =)
